The objective was never intended as a &amp;quot;be all and end all&amp;quot;, more as a guideline for an actor to follow. Find a super objective, and then an objective or two within each scene, breaking it into beats as is approriate; This will create natural performace by guiding the actor without restricting him.&lt;br /&gt;While I agree that any director who is silly enough to mark out an actor&amp;#39;s entire path, allowing zero freedom to explore impulse will end up with a thoroughly emotionless, unoriginal piece and frustrated actors, it is important to remember that without any thought given to objectives within a play, scene or singular exchange, an actor would be lost in the woods, and so it would still be absolutely essential to nut out basics together and reach a consensus over which general direction a performance should take. A really good director would loosely plan experimentation with multiple directions and objectives for a single scene, creating truly original theatre.</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/843653675594375994/6143844973345539791/comments/default/6258230941032003206'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/843653675594375994/6143844973345539791/comments/default/6258230941032003206'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.anactorprepares.net/2010/01/getting-stanislavsky-wrong.html?showComment=1290485304685#c6258230941032003206' title=''/><author><name>L.</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/00617515833356357930</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://www.anactorprepares.net/2010/01/getting-stanislavsky-wrong.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-843653675594375994.post-6143844973345539791' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/843653675594375994/posts/default/6143844973345539791' type='text/html'/><gd:extendedProperty xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' name='blogger.itemClass' value='pid-1446268219'/></entry></feed>
